Skyfall : Different, Refreshing, Surprising, but Less Sexy

This is my review about the 23rd James Bond Film, Skyfall which was released in November 1st 2012 in Indonesia. As the titled said, this movie is very different from previously Daniel Craig James Bond Film. Skyfall, beside different, is also refreshing and surprising. That's what I felt after watching it. Skyfall is truly worth to watch. Simply, All of the casts done their best here.

I'll break up everything in details. First, this movie is different from any previous Craig's Bond Film. I have the reason why I call this film is different. It's the plot that's different. Dealing with terrorism is actually the plot, which has been used in the rebooted 2006 Bond Film Casino Royale. In Skyfall, the plot is more developed by adding the cyber-terrorism, in which the current threat in the world. That's new  for James Bond Film. The sub-plot is also very different. The focus of the film is more developed. Bond isn't only dealing with the enemy, but also dealing more with his superior. The Bond-M relationship is more explored in Skyfall. Beside the story, the principal casts is explored and given the part almost equally. This is the first in the franchise, no previous Bond Movie have ever done so.

Next is this movie is very refreshing. Since Bond franchise established in 1962, we have been introduced with all of the principal cast. In this new-released-film, which marks the 50th anniversary of the franchise, all of the principal cast, which were left out in the previous films, are back again. That's what I call refreshing, so if you miss the casts who have been left out, then you can see them back to the office in Skyfall. For marking its 50th anniversary of the franchise, there are several references to previous Bond film. This again can refresh our mind about the franchise and films in it.

Two things isn't enough for this film, then another thing is that Surprising. As the story developed, you'll see much surprising thing in which haven't been done in the previous films. Sam Mendes, the Director, really want to surprise all of the Bond fans with his creation in Bond Universe. As the result, he's done the best here, making all of the Bond Fans Surprised.

The Pre title Sequence, as the legacy in every James Bond Film is explored and developed more in Skyfall. The pre title sequence really gives the boost as a start-up. The audiences is given the lure to make them more curious about what happened next. This Pre Title Sequence is the best actually in the franchise. For the title sequence, I must again say that the creation of Daniel Kleinman is one of the best in the series, since Casino Royale. He's done his best in Skyfall.

For the music, this is the first Bond Film for Thomas Newman, the new Music Director. As the starter, he did the very good with the music, although not enough for Bond film. The surprising thing is from the OST Sung by Adele, composed by her and Paul Epworth. This is the OST that I say The Best in the Franchise. Well Done for Adele.

The only thing that makes this film a little lack-of is that the role of Bond Girl, Severine, Played by Berenice Marlohe. She's the Bond Girl, and yet she's the principal cast who doesn't get the equal part. Even though she stand opposite Bond, doesn't mean that her part stay short. It's unorthodox for Bond Franchise, no matter what side Bond Girls stand, they should be explored more, since they're the quite important part to support the story. Lacking of them is just like a tea without a sugar, still impressive, but not enough to impress the Fan.

To summarize, this is the Bond film that has been waiting for, the elements are executed very well and reach the best. Although, there's a little lack, but still Skyfall hits the All Time High. Well Done.
