Can keyboard players play a piano? These question is simply to answer. All musician agree that a keyboard player CAN NOT play piano as well as they play in keyboard. They will find a difficulties when they are asked to play piano. The skill in keyboard and piano are so much different. For example, Keyboard player are to much memorizing the song they'd like to play. This habitual can lessen their ability to read a music sheet. They only know a song but CAN NOT read a music sheet. This is too bad. It can obstruct pianists who actually have more ability than them. The role of keyboard player MUST BE CHANGED to a PIANIST because of skill and professionalism.
Keyboard player has a less skill than a pianist. Keyboard player seldom to use his ability to read a music sheet, because the practices are to much focused on how to know the music by ear not by read the sheet. It's to much different with pianist. They are actually forced to read a music sheet, except they have memorized and knew the songs. The worst is keyboard can be played by amateur person who do not know the basic of music. It's happened because keyboard use a computer mechanism program that can be adjusted i.e the rhythm, patch, chorus etc. Piano CAN NOT BE PLAYED BY A PERSON WHO DO NOT KNOW THE BASIC OF MUSIC. So, only the chosen people who have had the skill can play piano. The technique of piano actually not hard, but will become hard if the player is a KEYBOARD PLAYER. They do not know about dynamic marking, expression marking, grace note etc. If they played a piano, they will only play in form of right hand as a melody and the left hand as BLOCKING chord. This BLOCKING chord will be played along the song. They don't know how to break the chord. Pianist know it.
Keyboard player are professional in their neighborhood. They can't be professional if they were asked to play in a concert. That's why the Symphony Orchestra prefer Pianist than keyboard player. The professional pianist actually can arrange a song into many kind of form. The keyboard player CAN'T DO. They only know how to play the song not how to arrange it. Keyboard player will never be success if they don't want to study about piano and the basic of music.
As a conclusion, keyboard player are less skillful than pianist. Keyboard player don't know the Basic. They are too much rely on ear. That's too bad. Their role should be changed by a pianist to make music more skillful and professional
