Hi, back to me again Pandu Dewa Nata. It's been a long time for me to start writing again. I'm sorry, I can do my writing again just now because I have too much thing to do, then I feel hard to find suitable time to start writing again. Now, I would like to tell you how to start your hobby in music and also the capital you need to support your hobby in music.
Music is one of the most elegant and prestigious hobby. Nobody deny it. As you know, all the True musicians is successful. It's happened because they have a strong capital, both technical and financial. For instance, if you're going to be pianist, you must have a piano ( not electric keyboard, but can be Acoustic or digital Piano ), a room to study your piano, a teacher, a PC, and some musical software. To put all of these things together, you need a lot of things to do. Firstly, you have to invest your money to buy piano, to build your own music room, to pay a piano teacher, to buy some musical books, and to buy some musical software, also you must have a strong will to study, because the road to study piano will not always be easy.
Now I would like to tell you about the financial capital to support your hobby in music.
1. Piano or other musical instruments
I'll take a sample of piano, because I do much know about this instruments, beside I also the pianist. To study a piano, you can buy a standard piano ( Upright Piano ) or a Grand Piano. This is according to your money. I buy an Upright Piano made in Germany, called Ritműller the price is IDR 18000000 or US$ 1800.
2. Music room
To study music you need a music room. A good music room should have soundproof, Air Conditioner. and a well-lightning. To build a music room maybe it will spend 4-5 months. The investment you need to build this is about IDR 150000000 or US$ 15000.
3. Piano Teacher
You almost impossible to study a music by yourself. So, you have to get a piano teacher, a best piano teacher. I'll tell you about how to choose a best piano teacher later at my next writing. To get a best piano teacher, you have to invest IDR 350000 or US$ 35 for a month ( @ month 4 meetings ). So in a year, you have to invest IDR 4200000 or US$ 140.
4. Musical Books
You have to buy some musical books to improve your skill in music. Here in Indonesia, the only musical bookstore is BUKUMUSIC.COM. The shop are located in three different locations in Indonesia, only in Island of Java. First, at Plaza Semanggi, Jakarta. Second at BSD ruko golden boulevard, Tangerang. Last at BTC Semi Basement B5 Bandung. BUKUMUSIK.COM sells many high quality musical books from all genre. It sells only imported books. So the price also in currency of US$. I bought some Imported books there, and I spent IDR 4167040 or US$ 416.70. I suggest you to buy your musical books here, because the books sold here really wonderful and high quality, although the price is not too much wonderful, but sometimes BUKUMUSIK.COM gives a discount. If you want to buy a local music books, you can buy it at local bookstore like Gramedia and Toko Gunung Agung. I bought a local musical books there, and I spent IDR 496800 or US$ 49.68.
5. Musical Software
You need some musical software to make your own music composition and an arrangement. There are so many musical software. Some famous musical software are SIBELIUS and FINALE. You can only buy these original software online or maybe can be ordered at local music retailer. Here in Indonesia, you can try it at Yamaha Music Center in Gatot Subroto, Central Jakarta. The price for Sibelius 6 ( The newest one ) is IDR 5500000 or US$ 550. For Finale 2010 ( The newest one ) IDR 6000000 or US$ 600. My suggestion : I suggest you to buy Sibelius 6. It's because, Sibelius has everything you need to do your composition and arrangement. Beside that, some music composer like ADDIE MS use this software to make an orchestration. So, It has been proved that SIBELIUS is THE BEST. Nothing is Impossible with SIBELIUS. Beside that you also need some Music Sequencer like Cakewalk, Pro Tools, Garage Band, etc. I am not suggest you to buy software like Fruity Loop, because it doesn't compatible with you. It doesn't produce any notation.

PIANO : IDR 18000000

The price above maybe too much expensive, but it will be paid off if you are success as musician. My writing is only guidelines for you, you can minimize the budget based your own financial condition. It's not an obligatory.
